Facilities

The Early Learning Center is located in Fay School’s Primary School, a state-of-the-art building designed especially for young children. We believe that the environment is the “third teacher,” and our warm and spacious classrooms are organized to reflect how children learn, with areas for active play, building and making, dramatic play, reading, art, focused thinking, and quiet reflection. Teachers and children also have access to the many resources that Fay’s 66-acre campus has to offer, including two playgrounds, gardens, outdoor classroom space, art classrooms, a dining room, gym and fields, and multipurpose activity spaces.

The Primary School Building

The ELC is part of the Fay School campus in Southborough, Massachusetts. Our classrooms are located in the Primary School Building, which serves children in Kindergarten through grade two. The broader Fay campus accommodates students through ninth grade, including a vibrant boarding community representing over 25 countries.

Fay's 66-Acre Campus

Being on a 66-acre school campus, our students have lots to explore and experience. Whether they are enjoying music classes on the quad, attending special programs in the theater, or welcoming older Fay students to their classroom for reading buddies, they never run out of room to expand their horizons.

Classrooms

Our classrooms are large, bright, open, and clean, and they support our inquiry-based learning model. Each classroom has its own bathroom and cubby area.

Dramatic Play Areas

All of our ELC classrooms have dramatic play areas that our teachers change throughout the year based on student interest. In the past, dramatic play areas have ranged from restaurants and coffee shops, to hair salons and veterinarian offices.

Multi-Purpose Room

ELC students take full advantage of our expansive multi-purpose room, utilizing the flexible space for P.E. classes and indoor recess.

Playground

Students spin, swing, slide, climb, and balance across our new playground. Consisting of four different structures surrounded by safety surfacing, the playground encourages active play, exploration, structured risk-taking, and lots of fun.

Nature Trail

Fay School’s campus is situated alongside the Sudbury Reservoir, providing ELC students with easy access to a scenic nature trail. Throughout the year, this trail serves as a living classroom where students engage in scientific discovery and observations.

Nurse Station

Members of our Health Office staff are trained healthcare professionals available throughout the school day. The Primary School building features a dedicated health office where a nurse can support our ELC students.

Primary Dining Commons

ELC tuition includes lunch and snacks each day, which are made in-house through Fay’s food provider, Flik Dining Services. During lunch, our older students join Fay students in the Primary Dining Commons, while our younger students are served in their classrooms.

Art Room

Each day, ELC students' schedules consist of a class with a specialty teacher from the Fay community. Specials include P.E., music, and art. For their art special, students visit the art room inside Fay's Primary School for a lesson with the Primary School Art Teacher.
