We are pleased to announce that on Friday, January 26, 2024, Fay’s Board of Trustees voted to expand Fay’s Early Learning Center.
In Fall 2024, the ELC will open one new classroom of 14 students for our youngest students (ages approximately 2.9 - 3.6 years). The ELC will add one classroom each year for the next two years, so that by Fall 2026 there will be two sections each of ELC 101, ELC 102, and ELC 103.
We will maintain our current teacher-student ratio to ensure the quality of our program.
Design work on expanded facilities for the Early Learning Center will begin in the coming weeks. The new ELC facilities will feature classroom and activity spaces designed specifically for preschool children, with areas for active play, building and making, dramatic play, reading, art, focused thinking, and quiet reflection. ELC teachers and children will continue to have access to the many resources that Fay’s 66-acre campus has to offer, including two playgrounds, gardens, outdoor classroom space, art classrooms, gym and fields, and multipurpose activity spaces.
The Application Process
The steps of our application process have not changed. Families who are interested in the Early Learning Center can submit an application form for their child at any time. Children ages two years, nine months through five are eligible to attend. Families of younger children may also choose to apply early in order to secure a spot in our applicant pool. Children who turn five prior to October 1 are invited to apply for Fay School's Kindergarten program.
To apply to the ELC, families need to create an account with Fay School. Once the account is created, families will be able to fill out our brief application form.
Enrollment Timeline
New students enter our program at the beginning of the ELC academic year in September. If a space becomes available mid-year, we will contact families in our applicant pool. An enrollment timeline for our September start date is below.
- Late November: Families who have applied to the ELC are invited to our Open House.
- February 1-15: Current ELC families are invited to re-enroll. Current ELC and Fay School siblings, children of Fay School employees, and children of Fay alumni are invited to enroll.
- Mid-February: We begin offering spaces to children in our applicant pool who are age-eligible for ELC 101 (approximately 2.9 - 3.6 years).
- February 16 - mid-April: General enrollment phase for spaces that are still available. At this time, families will be invited to the ELC for tours (if they did not attend the November Open House) and for an interview. Please note that occasional enrollments do occur throughout the spring and summer when spaces become available.
