Philosophy

The Early Learning Center at Fay School is grounded in traditional and current scientific understanding of early childhood development and learning. We believe that children learn best through active exploration and hands-on experiences with materials and ideas that are relevant and engaging.

The Early Learning Center offers a nurturing setting where teachers challenge young children to use critical thinking and problem solving skills. We believe that the process of learning is as important as the final product, and we plan carefully to achieve an appropriate balance between child-centered exploration and teacher-centered learning. Our approach enables children to experience the joy of discovery and the challenge of growing beyond their current level of mastery. We provide an age-appropriate, intellectually stimulating, and caring environment where children can develop a strong sense of self.
