Pedda strikes out 7 in Pitchers duel vs. Rivers B Team
Fay School faced the Rivers Middle School B team on wednesday, squeaking out a 2-1 victory in 4 innings.

Pedda looked to have some trouble early on, walking the leadoff batter, who would eventually score in the 1st inning to put Rivers up by a score of 1-0 early on.  Pedda would get out of the inning on 2 strikeouts and a ground ball he fielded himself for the easy out at first base.

Say Say Rivers was the first to get on base for Fay School, who promptly stole second and third base.  Starting Pitcher Neil Pedda drove in Rivers with an infield groundout to first, tieing the score at 1-1.

In the second inning, Pedda again looked shakey to start the inning, hitting the first batter then giving up a ground ball single, but struck out the following 3 batters to get out of the jam.

The Rivers School Pitcher also had a solid inning, giving up 1 walk while getting a ground ball out to first, a fly out to center, and a strike out to bring on the third inning.

Pedda made short work of Rivers in the third, facing 4 batters and recording three outs thanks to the defense behind him.  A miscommunication by the infield allowed only 1 batter to reach base in the inning.

In the bottom of the third,  Tim Koay's leadoff walk turned into the go ahead run, as he would eventually score on an infield ground out by Chris Sullivan.  The run gave Fay school a 2-1 lead over Rivers that would remain the final score.

In the top of the 4th, Neil Pedda struggled to maintain control as he reached the limit of his pitch count, walking the leadoff batter and allowing the bases to load with 2 outs.  Aurdric Sandoval was brought in to face the final batter, getting a strikeout to seal the win for JV Baseball.

Pedda pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up 3 hits, walking 5, and striking out 7.  Pedda also recorded an RBI as well as getting the Win (2-1, ERA 2.47, WHIP 1.65).  Pedda has recorded 26 Strikeouts in 17 innings of work this season.  Sandoval recorded his first Save of the season.
