Possession is Difference Maker in Fay's Victory Over Eaglebrook

Coach Greene
Today the Fay Boys' Varsity A soccer team took on a solid squad from Eaglebrook up at The Winchendon School. It was a crisp fall afternoon, which gave us a much needed break from the leftover summer heat, and the boys were excited to play.

From the opening whistle, our boys dominated the possession battle, connecting their passes and fighting to win 50/50 balls in the middle against some talented opposing midfielders. It was an impressive display of team chemistry as they built their attack from the back, especially considering this was only their second game of the season. While this game definitely revealed the need to practice finishing our attacks and improve our on-field communication, the boys worked hard and made some big improvements in terms of our organization and spacing.

Goals were scored by Milton Jones and Erick Obukhanich as we went on to defeat Eaglebrook 2-0. While our attack was strong, the spotlight belongs to our defense and goalkeeping for recording their first shutout of the season. Improving on their communication and organization today, they worked well to support each other against an aggressive vertical attack from Eaglebrook. Special accolades go to Brendon Chung and Ral Nwogbo for their work on the back line, and also to our starting goalkeeper Nolan Heneghan for taking care of his penalty area.

Next match: Fay vs. Rectory, Wednesday September 26th, 3:30 pm @ Fay School Athletic Campus
