The Fay Girls Varsity hockey team started off the New Year with a game against Tabor. Our opponents had the advantage in age and size, but lacked significant experience on the ice. The Fay team started off slowly, making a few mistakes and taking some time to get back up to game speed. By the third period though, the team was flying. The game ended with a 5-0 victory for Fay.
Tiffany Li played another solid game in net, earning a shutout. The first goal came in the first period by Emma Reynolds with assists from Ava Jadul and Lauren Glaser. Emma hustled throughout and earned 2 goals with several near misses. Lauren Glaser also played a great game finishing with 2 goals and an assist. She made a concerted effort to involve her teammates throughout. Other strong performances came from Casey Shapiro and Nashua Poreda on the blue line. JoJo Mongillo played very well, scoring her first goal of the season. Many of our newer/younger players gained valuable experience, playing significant minutes. The girls look forward to our next game this Friday against Nobles.
